πŸ“š 🌬 πŸ˜ƒ Another Whirlwind Week For Whimsy Wood! πŸ˜ƒ 🌬 πŸ“š

The wheels of ‘Whimsy Wood’ were back on the road again last week, as I was invited to visit Townsend Barn Nursery in Poulshot, Wiltshire, to read ‘Posie Pixie And The Pancakes’, book 7 in my Whimsy Wood children’s series.

The pre-school children certainly enjoyed meeting all the woodland folk that I brought with me and loved listening to Posie’s February adventure! They were able to take home Whimsy Wood bookmarks and information about book 8, ‘Fearne Fairy And The Dandelion Clocks’, which is due out this Saturday! πŸ˜ƒ

Talking of which, the first hardback and paperback copies of ‘Fearne Fairy And The Dandelion Clocks’ arrived last week! I know I’m biased, but they really do look absolutely beautiful! If you’d like to pre-order a copy you can do so here :-Β http://abelapublishing.com/preorder–fearne-fairy-and-the-dandelion-clocks–book-8-in-the-whimsy-wood-series_p31235401.htm

I was also invited to Hamp Academy in Bridgwater, Somerset last week, to run 2 creative writing workshops for their junior pupils. We had lots of fun, creating woodland story arcs in the form of game boards. The children were then able to write a short woodland story, using their story game boards. This tied in with a woodland visit the children had been on a few days before.

Finally, I was asked to judge a children’s writing competition run by The Little Hen House in Devizes, Wiltshire and the prize-giving party was last Saturday. The entries we’d received were really wonderful; full of imagination and creativity. Huge congratulations to the winners and indeed all the children who entered. πŸ˜ƒ

Along with a treasure hunt around The Little Hen House, the children were treated to a ‘pin the beak on the chicken’ game and craft activities. Following some essential celebratory slices of cake, the children settled down to hear the first ever public reading of ‘Fearne Fairy And The Dandelion Clocks’!

I’m delighted to say that it went down a storm and the children headed home, happily carrying their party bags and prizes. Hopefully, they had wonderfully whimsical dreams that evening, of little hens getting up to mischief in Whimsy Wood with Fearne Fairy perhaps?! πŸ˜ƒ

The mention of dreams has just reminded me, that I really should be finishing off the content required for Whimsy Wood’s new website, which will go live this Sunday! So, I shall bid you farewell and wish you a wonderfully whimsical week!

✨ πŸ“š πŸ˜ƒ It’s Nearly Book Week ! πŸ˜ƒ πŸ“š βœ¨

Book week is nearly here and I for one am very excited! It starts this coming Monday (February the 29th to be precise), with World Book Day being on Thursday March the 3rd. As a children’s author, this is one of the busiest times of the year, especially on the school visits front. 😊

Books, Books, Books Galore!

This year, I have been fortunate enough to be invited to Ayscoughfee Hall School in Spalding, Lincolnshire; Easton Royal Academy in Easton Royal, Wiltshire; OLOPS Catholic Primary Academy in Bulwell, Nottingham; Townsend Barn Nursery in Poulshot, Wiltshire and Hamp Academy in Bridgwater, Somerset.

I’m really looking forward to visiting all these primary schools, meeting the children, running creative writing workshops, engaging with my audience and hopefully igniting some imaginations! I hope they enjoy some of the whimsical fun I have planned for them! πŸ˜ƒ

In other ‘Whimsy Wood’ news, it’s only 3 weeks now until book 8, ‘Fearne Fairy And The Dandelion Clocks’ is launched! Its official release date is Saturday March the 19th and it will be available in all good book shops and online retailers. Please do ask your local book shop to order a copy for you, as it’s great to support local independent book shops. Thank you. 😊

✨ πŸŽ„ πŸ˜ƒ Christmas Fair Fun And Frolics! πŸ˜ƒ πŸŽ„ βœ¨

I don’t know about you, but I can certainly smell Christmas, if that is indeed possible!?! It’s almost within reach and I for one get so excited about this wonderfully jolly and cosy time of year. 😊 With this in mind, my ‘Whimsy Wood’ children’s series and I were delighted to have a stall at Townsend Barn Nursery’s Christmas Fair this week in Poulshot Village Hall in Wiltshire. There were mini mince pies galore and mulled wine flowing for all! It was a truly splendid evening! πŸ˜ƒ

So that was the first of our Christmas Fairs this year and the next is this coming Tuesday (November the 17th), at Edington Farm Shop in Edington, Wiltshire. This farm shop is classed as Wiltshire’s best farm shop and rightly so, as it is really fabulous. Their Christmas Fairs are always jam-packed with music and merriment, jolly folk and beautiful, unique gifts for all, so it really is worth popping along if you’re free! πŸ˜‰ This year’s Christmas Fair at Edington Farm Shop starts at 3pm and carries on until 10pm. Behind the scenes of ‘Whimsy Wood’, work has been progressing well on the creation of hard back versions of my 1st 7 books. We had so many requests and enquiries for hard backs, that it only seemed right to listen to demand from ‘Whimsy Wood’ fans! πŸ˜ƒ Above is the hard back of ‘Posie Pixie And The Copper Kettle’ and below is a beautiful image of Posie, as she appears in this 1st instalment from my award-winning children’s series.

Here's 'Henry Horse', feeling very grateful for Posie's help. 😊

Finally, our next ‘Whimsy Wood’ competition is up and running on our Facebook and Twitter sites. This competition ends at midnight tonight! (Sunday November the 15th) To enter, all you need to do is click on one of the links below and follow the simple instructions. You could be a winner of a signed copy of ‘Posie Pixie And The Fireworks Party’! Good luck! πŸ˜‰πŸ˜ƒhttps://www.facebook.com/pages/Whimsy-Wood-Series/476339045765043?ref=hl

Now, as I look down on the woodland floor of the enchanting ‘Whimsy Wood’, I can see ‘Wibble Woodlouse’ scuttling off home, to the copper kettle house that she lives in with ‘Posie Pixie’. Wibble had been visiting her family who live under the large lime log in the middle of the wood, you see. She often does that on a Sunday afternoon. πŸ˜‰ ‘Skittle Spider’ is busy weaving charming cobwebs in the lower branches of an old oak tree and ‘Dr Tustle the tawny owl’ is about to leave his nest and visit ‘Raspberry Rabbit’. She hurt her paw whilst tidying up her ‘Treasure Room’ in her burrow earlier today, poor thing.

Well, that’s it from me for now. I’ll close the heavy oak doors to the magical world of ‘Whimsy Wood’ today and wish you a wonderfully whimsical week ahead. 😊
